Spinal Injury
Your physician will make a physical examination and will inquire about any recent mishaps, such as sports injuries, falls, or head impacts. The duration of headaches, vertigo, swallowing difficulties, and vision issues should be brief. Tell your doctor if the symptoms given above persist or become unmanageable. An MRI may be needed to rule out a more serious neck injury.
If a spinal injury is thought to have occurred, the following imaging tests might be prescribed:
X-rays and MRIs can rule out fractured bones and other disorders such as arthritis, spine fractures, and dislocations.
- A more detailed image of the bone and soft tissues can be seen on a monitor during a CT (computerized tomography) scan because numerous X-ray images are acquired from various angles.
- A detailed image of the damaged area is gradually created during an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan using radio waves and a strong magnetic field. Soft tissue injuries will be easy to spot for the doctor.
